IYENGAR: the man, yoga, and the student’s journey is a feature about BKS Iyengar’s practice, life and influence by award winning director Jake Clennell. With intimate access to Iyengar’s personal yoga practice, the film also explores how his students have used yoga to support their activities running an orphanage, and addiction center.
Where does yoga intersect with murder? Child prostitution? Alcoholism, blindness and debilitating illness? Built around compelling and unique verité footage of one of the world’s most influential spiritual leaders of the modern era, IYENGAR is both an intimate look at B.K.S. Iyengar’s personal yoga practice, and an exploration of how his students—an orphan, a priest, a murderer—use yoga to transform their lives.
Filmmaker Jake Clennell brings a scrupulously nonjudgmental eye to yoga and rarely seen aspects of life in India.
